The Ebony Hillbillies – aka the last African-American String Band in America - have been bringing the party to music lovers in NYC and around the country for decades. According to lead singer Gloria Gassaway Thomas, "When you see the Ebony Hillbillies, you go home and say, ‘Damn, I had a ball, I got down with them, I had a workout!’" The Sway Machinery has a long history of producing unique shows that call upon the social qualities of the Yiddish-spiritual music tradition known as khazones (cantorial art music).
